Happy "Burp" Thanksgiving

Hey folks. It's me, Jeb, again. Just wanted to wish y'all a Happy Thanksgiving.
I got weighed again today. I am up to 38 lbs. (before breakfast!).

Piece of advice - don't eat too much turkey today or you will have to rest your belly like me below.

What's New... Or What's Current....

Hey friends. My fosters said I needed an update but since I am not very objective about myself (go figure) they were going to provide today's update. I guess I have no choice so here goes, I risk turning it over to these blogging amateurs known as my foster parents. Jeb

Greetings folks, here are our current thoughts on Jeb.

As of today his age is about 27 weeks (6 & ¾ months).

Much of what is listed below is because he is a pup and still learning. These are in no particular order of importance, just as they came to mind.

Any adopter needs to understand that Jeb is VERY active. If you want to be active he is a very willing puppy.

He needs exercise.

He will chase and retrieve balls, toys, Kongs, whatever. He is very playful that way.

Jeb is "full of it" a lot. He needs constant supervision or he will find a way to get into puppy trouble.

He likes to chew. We give him lots of toys supplemented by chewies, rawhides, etc.

He is mouthy-bitey towards people but has been improving with maturity and our constant correction. This is primarily just puppyness. He does not bite/nip hard but a smaller child may not know the distinction. But, as stated, he is improving.

He is mostly house-trained. He knows to go out. If you are in tune he will show signs, like whining or facing the outside door, that he needs to go. With fairly frequent trips outside he has no problems with accidents. But, if you neglect all the above he will still have an accident, so being proactive helps greatly.

He is crate-trained and does well. Pretty much he is only in the crate when no one is home. The longest day for him has been about six hours in the crate and that is infrequent. We have had no crate accidents aside from his only one soon after arrival here from the shelter in early May when he was still adjusting and experiencing some stomach issues related to shelter life.

He does have some guarding issues mostly with his chew bone. This ONLY applies to our other dogs when they come too close; we've experienced no problem with people in this regard.

Jeb has been taken almost every weekend to various places to meet people in particular and other dogs when possible. He LOVES people, is very friendly to all no matter what size and age. He is very popular with almost everyone he meets.

When on leash he does show a tendency to be mildly aggressive towards other dogs but if challenged he submits. He has played with both our pit bull dogs (including a very alpha-female) and those of some other foster pit bulls. He loves to play with them all.

He needs leash training. He wants to be a weight puller plus chase every leaf that flies by or whatever may distract him in the moment.

When excited, especially in greetings, he jumps up on people. We have been working on that but he needs more work.

He loves to snuggle.

He will bark but is not really much of a barker. It is not a big issue. Mostly he reacts to our other dogs barking but even then sometimes he just watches them.

He has some skin issues with allergies (scratching, chewing, etc.). He has been on medicine for that. This may be a seasonal problem or just being a puppy that is still developing. We also tend to have major allergy problems for both pets and people in the Tennessee Valley area where we live (it is a known issue, especially during the fall season). So that may go away with a change in environment.

He is a very good patient at the vet.

He is very good at sitting and waiting for his food. He sits all the time hoping for a food treat. This has been useful in training.

He rides very well in a vehicle. No car sickness, whining, etc. He is just happy to be along for the ride.

If desired Jeb may do very well as an only dog as long as he has his people. He loves attention.

That's about it for an update. Please contact BBR with any questions or GET YOUR APPLICATION IN FOR THIS "GOOD BOY".

Thanks for considering Jeb!

Pics, Pics, Pics!

Folks, I finally was sneaky and got some photos
assembled from my foster Mom's cell phone!
These cover a wide time frame. So enjoy (I hope).

[NOTE: Remember, all my pics can be seen larger by left-clicking on them.]

OK, first up here you get to see my favorite trip!
My first day out of the shelter (August 8th) and headed to my foster home!
Oh, what a joyful day it was!

A little indignity though. Stuck in a plastic tub.

But I guess the tub was important. My fosters said I was STINKY.
I desperately needed a bath and got one ASAP at home.

I am still cute though, eh?

Peek-a-boo.

Can't I sit in your lap?

****************************************************************

Now you get to see me in my foster home.

I will find the comfortable spot if you won't make me one.

All is Well.

I do like sleeping.

Look at the neat Snoopy I got.
The folks at A New Leash on Life Thrift Store gave it to me.
I am one of their favorite visitors.

Are you taking my picture AGAIN!?!?

****************************************************************

Can you say "Road Trip"?

Long day visiting all over. I have fun but sure get tired.

What comfort.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz....

****************************************************************

And last but not least.

Mommy Bear is sick and look who gets to help Stormy Sky comfort her!

OK folks. That's it for now. Puppy love to all y'all.

Latest Update

Me and my buddy Rocco.

Hey, it's me Jeb again. Time has been flying by so quickly now so that I've had little to no time for writing updates. It has been fun though! And my peeps have been remiss in getting any new, good, photos so I cannot even share them with you. There are a few videos just of me taken by my peeps but they have not been able yet to get them on-line yet. Sorry y'all.

But, here's some news on me now.

I am crate-trained and do very well in it. Mostly my crate is used for those times when everyone is gone (which is rare since there is usually always someone home here). And at night I sleep in a crate in my foster-parents bedroom. But the last couple of nights they have let me sleep on Heather Belles "bed" with her, next to mom and dad's BIG bed (hey, how come I'm not allowed up there?). It is nice though because then we can snuggle for warmth and companionship.

My peeps say that I am showing more maturity although I am still all-puppy. I am lessening my mouthing/biting which they want me to do (but that's no fun!).

Stormy Sky finally started wrestling with me. That is so much fun. I am glad she finally did that (although she occasionally still scares me).

I still need to work on my walking skills. They say I need to enter weight pulling contests because I love to do it so much. Hopefully I can get better trained on this bad habit of mine. Sometimes I do fairly well though, going on leisurely walks through the valley, and they are happy with me.

I have gotten to visit many places as my peeps take me for socialization whenever possible. I go to places like Tractor Supply, Petsmart, the animal rescue thrift store, Humane Society events, to visit my friends Rocco and Roo, etc. I love people, all kinds of people, young and old, and especially those who give me treats... I sit real still and concentrate while waiting.

I love to play fetch. I have lots of toys I get my peeps to throw for me. I like the big Kongs we have here also. My dad also has a "flirt pole" he made that sure can wear me out. But it's fun to capture the toy (when he lets me).

Although I look like I have grown some more I still weigh in at 34 lbs. tonight. I don't look skinny and I am getting taller so not sure what's up with that. I sure eat well. Maybe I'm waiting for a "growth spurt".

And finally, I am pretty well housebroken, especially if I am taken out consistently. I know I'm supposed to go outside and will even try to let people know that I have the need. I still need proper care and attention in this area but when I get it I do just fine.

OK, all this writing has kind of worn me out. Thank you though for checking up on me. Remember I am available for adoption. See the info in the left-hand column here.
